Co-living · Rooming houses

Rent a room in a shared house. Learn how to own.

Your own private room, shared kitchen and living space, and house rules in writing before you move in. A place to live while you learn how buying a home works, if you want to.

How it works

What co-living looks like.

Your own room

A private bedroom you rent, in a house shared with other residents. What's included depends on the house.

Written house rules

Quiet hours, guests, shared spaces and chores are written down, and every resident gets the same rules.

Repairs handled

ASRE Property Management looks after the house. Residents report repairs from their phone, and emergencies go straight to the office.

House models

Our co-living models

Each model is its own kind of house with its own page.

The path

Live together, then take the next step when you're ready.

Co-living is the first step. Some residents later lease a home with an option to buy, and some go straight to buying. You can start at any step, and you never have to take the next one.

Each house follows its own local rules. Rooming houses and shared housing are licensed and regulated differently in DC, each Maryland county and city, and Virginia. Every house follows the laws of the jurisdiction it is in.

Program terms vary by property and jurisdiction; details are provided in writing before you sign. Each home follows the laws of the city or county it is in.

Same process for everyone

Every home is offered to every applicant on the same written terms for that home. All lawful sources of income, including housing vouchers and benefits, are welcome. We never ask about or treat anyone differently because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, disability, age, source of income, or any other trait protected where the home is.

Ask about a room

Everyone gets the same reply: someone from our office will reach out with what's available and how it works.
